Description A large and beautifully-designed c1920s Arts and Crafts brooch most likely from Germany. It is very similar to some of the designs I have come across by Karl Karst, Pforzheim. The leaves have been hammered lightly and then have some simple chased lines in them as detailing. I adore the openwork element of this brooch as, although it is a large piece, it seems still light and joyous. Perhaps the use of light, sparkling gem stones heightens this feeling of lightness of design too. An oval faceted lemon citrine (tested) is set in a millegrain setting and opposite in the other half of the design, sits a beautiful light green faceted spinel (tested), also in a fine millegrain setting. They are open-backed to add that extra sparkle and glitz. They are also in pristine condition-indicating that this fabulous brooch has been very well cared-for. This is a statement, organic design with lovely stones, stamped “835” on the verso. It measures approx 4.8cm in diameter, is weighty and is also easily worn as a pendant, due to the little plaque and ball section at the top, which gives you something to wrap a chain around. I will send in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Complimentary tracked and signed postage is included. Ref:cie
