Description This is such a wonderful design, hand-crafted in the 1920s by Bernard Instone and is also a book piece, appearing on p138 of Tracy Henriksen’s literature “Bernard Instone  Designer and craftsman: the art of a jeweller”. Five beautiful, graduated Madeira citrines are set along the chain, each stamped with the lion passant for the sterling silver quality. The largest stone in the centre, has the “B.I” stamp as well as Birmingham assay marks for the year 1929. It is much rarer to find a 1920s Instone piece. I love the early, more delicate rectangular links crafted in silver and then set with gold details of a forget-me-not flower. It is a subtle but beautifully balanced piece, with the richness of the faceted citrines picked up further by the gold highlights on the links. The mille grain settings are very impressive as they are so finely worked. A lovely, sunny and light piece of jewellery in excellent condition and ready to wear. It measures approx 38.5cm (a touch under 15.25 inches) so it wears as a shorter choker-style necklace. The length of the decorated links / citrines section is approx 14cm. A rare, more delicate and more typical 1920s signed and date piece, which is a lovely buy for someone.
