The Amare Knives Folding Creator is a very large pocket knife, designed by Tashi Bharucha. This French designer introduced an amazing chef’s knife. A type of mini santoku, but large enough for many different tasks in the kitchen. The handle is cleverly designed. Just like a normal santoku you can easily grab it with a ‘pinch grip’. You hold the blade in between your thumb and index finger. As such you have a lot of control over the knife. The blade is made from Vg10 steel. A popular choice which has been used for kitchen knives for many years. It retains its sharpness well, is easy to sharpen and stainless. You open the Amare Knives Folding Creator with two hands. The, by Uli Hennicke designed, A-joint mechanism ensures that it won’t accidentally close. This mechanism is unique for Amare. The A-joint mechanism works like a slipjoint. On the inside of the handle the mechanism is shaped like a letter V of which the two ends press down on the blade. Both ends contain a semi-circular cut-out. At the part where the blade rotates around the hinge screw, a round rod is placed on the outside of the blade. When opened and closed this rod falls into one of the cut-outs of the A-joint mechanism. Because the spring that locks the blade when opened applies more pressure than the spring that locks the blade when closed, the knife is easier to open than to close. Incredibly innovative. Another advantage is that the A-joint mechanism is completely hidden in the handle. As such no dirt can get stuck in between the locking mechanism.
