The Benchmade Bailout 537GY is a light-weight and solid pocket knife. The 537 Bailout is a larger version of the famous Benchmade Bugout. One of the best EDC knives ever produced, designed for hikers who pay attention to every gram. Because the Bugout was so popular Benchmade also used this light-weight construction for the Bailout. But that is not all, many design elements on the Bailout come from the Bugout. The handle, for instance, which is also made from grivory. An incredibly light-weight type of plastic that is remarkably strong for its weight. The Bailout is also enhanced with the same diamond pattern on the handle and of course the famous axis lock. The 537 Bailout is a part of Benchmades black class collection, and was designed as a tactical knife for first responders and soldiers. This is clear when you look at the blade. The tip is enhanced with a tanto-style shape, perfect for self-defence and penetrating tasks. Benchmade selected 3V-steel for the blade. One of the most tough and robust types of steel at the moment. This steel can easily handle heavy-duty use. In addition, it retains its sharpness well and is relatively easy to sharpen. It is also important to know that CPM 3V is not 100% stainless. Benchmade solved this problem by giving the Bailout a tough grey cerakote-coating. A remarkable detail is the aluminium backspacer which is enhanced with an elongated lanyard hole. The backspacer can be used as a glass breaker. The Benchmade 537 Bailout has a slightly shorter deep-carry pocket clip than most models.
